Teacher’s House
Rammed Earth Home
The teacher’s house. An inspiration from local design traditions of deep significance within community.
The teacher’s home was built within the sandy Mauritanian desert landscape. The project utilized 90% in-situ soil, resulting in remarkably low energy consumption throughout its construction cycle.
The smooth sand-finished surface contributed to preserving the cultural heritage and character of the community.
The teacher’s house quality and rapid construction have led the Mauritanian Government to consider implementing a community support program that encourages citizens to embrace the many benefits of modern rammed earth construction, and the use of our technology.
